Siyam World

Maldives

Located in the Dhigurah Noonu Atoll, Siyam World is a 40 minute seaplane ride from Male. The whole resort operates a Wow All Inclusive programme and has an excellent range of accommodation options for couples and families. As a family or 4, 2 adults, one 15yr old and an 11yr old, We stayed in a 2 Bedroom Lagoon Villa with pool and slide, an excellent choice which gave us two independent rooms with separate entrances, bathrooms (very important when travelling with a Tik Tok/ Snapchat heavy teen girl) with the rooms connected by the furnished sun terrace and sharing the pool and slide.

Arrival into Male:  We had a really smooth transit to the hotel, we found the Siyam World rep waiting as we came through after luggage collection, our rep walked us to the Seaplane luggage drop off and then guided us to a minibus and within 10mins or so we were off on the short transfer to the seaplane terminal. Once there we headed to the Siyam lounge for some refreshments and to watch the seaplanes coming and going. About 40 minutes later we were on our way to the island.

All Inclusive: The Wow All Inclusive is a 24 hour premium setup, with 7 restaurants to choose from you are spoilt for choice, all included in the Wow setup. We dined at both Baraabaru and Tempo for breakfast, Tempo, Shipwrecked and Jungali for lunch. For dinner we got to experience Takrai (Thai), Andalucia (Spanish), The Wahoo Grill, Delmare (Italian), Kaage (Maldivian) and we paid a supplement to dine at Arigato (Japanese). All were great, fantastic settings and feel but personal faves were Andalucia, The Wahoo Grill and Delmare. Arigato was nice but as it comes with an uplift it wasn't as busy which dented the atmosphere a little on the night we went.

For drinks the choice is fantastic, lots of bars dotted around the island, one pool bar for adults only, with good service and a wide choice of drinks. Cocktails were hit and miss with some just tasting like fruit punch or soda water with a spirit. A nice touch is the mini bar being refreshed everyday with Toblerones, crisps, beer, wine and soft drinks.

Activities: For water sports lovers this is an island paradise, lots of non-motorised options free of charge including SUP, Canoe, Windsurf and Laser Boat. Snorkelling equipment is free to borrow for your stay too. Then there's paid for activities like inflatable rides, jet ski,  Hydrofoil and Flyboard to name a few. Diving options too. The Siyam inflatable park is free of charge and a great place to spend the last few hours of the afternoon. On land you'll find football pitches and futsal courts, multi surface tennis and paddle courts, badminton, basketball and beach volleyball plus a half decent gym and serene Spa setup.

Quality & Service: A great 5* resort, our room attendant Anwar was superb, looking after us and stopping to have a nice chat every day, nothing was too much trouble. Our Host Limbu was superb too, creating a Whatsapp group for us on arrival, sending the daily programme of activities to us through that and she was there for anything we needed too. There's buggies running around the island at all hours so really easy to get places without too much walking.

Great for:

  • Families, especially larger ones or multi-generational groups
  • Active people
  • Couples holidays

Not so great for:

  • Anyone that doesn't like small planes, it's either a seaplane or prop plane and speedboat to get there

Top Tips:

  • Pre-book your restaurants before you go
  • Stay off the inflatables between 11am to 3pm as the blue and red areas got very hot
  • Head out on the Turtle Safari, we got to see a great little guy swimming around
  • Book to arrive into Male as early as possible and leave as late as you can to maximise your stay here
